On January 6th 1881, eleven men of the twenty nine crew were rescued from the 'Indian Chief', a cargo vessel, bound for Yokohoma. In attendance were the Ramsgate lifeboat 'Bradford' with coxwain Charles Fish, and the steam tug 'Aid' captained by Alfred Page. Both these vessels can be seen in this linoprint.
