'Hazelmere' 1903

On 1st December 1903, the coaster 'Hazelmere' hit the East Goodwin lightship, but didn't stop. The wooden lightship, shown in the background of this linoprint, was seriously damaged, and local lifeboats went out to render assistance.
A court hearing decided that the 'Hazelmere' had insufficient ballast for a winter voyage. Repairs to the lightship cost £400.
